Summary: This guide walks you through the initial setup: creating a workspace, adding your first project, filing a ticket, dragging it across columns, and inviting teammates. Setup takes under ten minutes.

Step 1 — Create your workspace

A workspace is your organization's home. All projects, team members, settings, and billing live inside it. When you register, a default workspace is created automatically with sample data so you can test features immediately.

To create a new workspace or switch between organizations, click the workspace dropdown at the top of the sidebar.

Step 2 — Create a project

A project represents a product, client engagement, or internal initiative.

  1. Navigate to Projects → New project.
  2. Enter a descriptive name (e.g. Customer Portal) and a 2–4 letter Key (e.g. PORT).
  3. The key prefixes all tickets in that project (e.g. PORT-1, PORT-2).

Step 3 — File your first ticket

Open your project and click New issue (or press C anywhere in the app). Only the title is required. As you type, VectorKan checks for duplicates and suggests a priority and category.

Step 4 — Move tickets on the Kanban board

Click Board in the project view. Drag and drop cards between workflow columns: Backlog, To Do, In Progress, In Review, and Done.

Step 5 — Invite your team

Go to Members → Invite, enter their email address, and select a role:

  • Owner: Full workspace administration and billing control.
  • Admin: Project, member, and integration management.
  • Member: Daily ticket management, time logging, and team chat.
  • Viewer: Read-only access and commenting for stakeholders.
