Summary: Sprints let teams commit to two-week or monthly iterations. VectorKan automatically computes velocity and warns you during planning if a sprint is overcommitted.

Creating a sprint

  1. Inside your project, open the Sprints tab.
  2. Click Create sprint.
  3. Provide a sprint name (e.g. Sprint 24) and set start and target end dates.
  4. Drag tickets from the Backlog into the sprint planning area.
  5. Click Start sprint when the cycle begins.

Understanding velocity & burndown

  • Historical Velocity: The average story points completed across recent completed sprints. VectorKan calculates this automatically without manual bookkeeping.
  • Burndown Chart: Visualizes remaining story points day-by-day against the ideal completion trajectory.

Automated overcommitment alerts

During sprint planning, VectorKan evaluates your committed story points against historical velocity. If your team commits to 45 points but usually completes 30, a warning appears: "Overcommitted: 150% of historical velocity; approximately 15 points will not land."
